History
Zurich Life, through a merger became Kemper Zurich. Kemper Zurich, originally located in Long Grove Illinois, was purchased in 2003 by Bank One. Through a merger between Bank One and Chase Bank in 2004, Zurich Life became known as Chase Life, Chase Insurance or something of the sort. In 2004, Chase Life moved their headquarters from Long Grove, Illinois to Elgin, Illinois. Somewhere around the middle of 2006, things got interesting. I have no idea how the name Fidelity got into the middle of all this, but eventually a company called Protective Life bought out the Life Insurance portion of Chase. Protective Life kept the Chase name in some areas and changed the name to Protective Life in other areas. Protective Life moved a portion of the life insurance headquarters from Elgin, Illinois to Nashville, Tennessee, another part to Birmingham, Alabama and kept a portion headquartered in Elgin, Illinois. In 2008, I was informed that a company called West Coast Life is somehow involved in this mess. Protective and West Coast are somehow related.
